Max Healthcare announces expansion plans
The Indian hospital operator plans to almost double its bed count in the next few years, to meet demand from both domestic patients and medical tourists
Indian private hospital operator Max Healthcare has announced plans to expand its capacity to meet both domestic and international demand for its services.
Abhay Soi, Chairman and Managing Director of Max Healthcare, stated, in comments quoted by the Economic Times newspaper, that the company planned to reach a total of 10,000 beds over the next three to four years.
He also confirmed that while the company had around 5,200 beds in 2025, it was now expected to have “close to 6,700 beds” before the end of the current fiscal year.
The announcement follows the recent opening of a 400-bed facility at its Max Super Speciality Hospital in the Saket district of New Delhi, as well as other facilities in Mohali and Mumbai.
As well as meeting demand from Indian patients, the expansion is intended to meet growing demand from international medical tourists.
China and Pakistan recently inaugurated a new Neurosurgery Joint Training and Medical Tourism Centre in Wuhan, China, to support collaboration on healthcare.
