APRIL International retains top IPMI service rating for fifth consecutive year
The insurer has topped a broker-led IPMI survey, driven by strong responsiveness, claims performance, and consistent intermediary support across all service categories
APRIL International was ranked as the leading provider in Health & Protection’s latest international private medical insurance (IPMI) report for the fifth consecutive year, based on broker and intermediary feedback across the market.
The insurer achieved an overall score of 86.4 out of 100, placing it more than five points ahead of the next highest-ranked provider. It was also the only provider to score above 90 in any individual category, achieving 91 for speed of response to broker queries.
The annual survey assessed IPMI providers across a range of service metrics including claims handling, compliance support, quotation turnaround times, technology usability, staff expertise, and overall broker engagement.
APRIL International ranked first across all seven categories, including claims handling (87.5), quote and query support (88), compliance support (83.6), ease of use of application technology (80.6), business development support (86.3), speed of response (91), and staff expertise and problem-solving (87.6).
Broker feedback highlighted consistently strong responsiveness and tailored support.
One intermediary described APRIL International as “quick to respond and realising that not everyone’s situation is the same”, while another said the provider was “always on hand to help”.
The recognition followed the company’s recent win as Managing General Agent (MGA) of the Year at the Modern Claims Awards, further reinforcing its positioning in the international health insurance market.
Joe Thomas, Managing Director of APRIL International UK, said: “Achieving a five-star service rating for the fifth consecutive year is a fantastic recognition of the dedication and expertise of our teams. We are incredibly proud to have achieved the highest overall score in the market and to be the only provider to receive a score above 90.”
He added that APRIL International remained focused on improving responsiveness and service consistency through a combination of human expertise and technology.
APRIL International is part of the APRIL Group, which operates across 25 countries and reported turnover of €907 million in 2025, with around 3,300 employees worldwide.
