Armenia announces plans to develop medical tourism
The country’s Tourism Committee has outlined plans to develop an online platform for international patients seeking medical services as part of its national tourism strategy
The Armenian Tourism Committee has stated that it plans to launch a digital service to provide easy access to Armenian medical services and specialists, including complex surgeries, as part of its efforts to encourage medical tourism in the country.
The platform does not have a confirmed launch date, although the Committee said it expected to begin operations “soon”.
“High-quality medical services will be available in one place for tourists,” said Lusine Gevorgyan, Committee Chairperson for the Tourism Committee. “This means that, on a single platform, it will be possible to find a variety of medical services, the best licensed doctors, and also connect with insurers and tour operators to finalise agreements.”
The Committee also announced that it would hold its second medical tourism conference, in partnership with the United Nations. Last year’s conference included a number of representatives from various public institutions, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and legal firms, Gevorgyan added.
Healthcare provider Thumbay Group recently announced the launch of a new hospital and treatment district in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
