New ‘Medicity’ planned for Gujarat, India
The new complex, modelled on Dubai Healthcare City, is planned for completion in 2028, and will provide international-standard medical care
The government of the Indian state of Gujarat has proposed the creation of a new “international-level Medicity” located between the municipalities of Kadi and Kalol.
The government of the northwestern state is currently in the process of identifying a site for the new development, which will be modelled on the United Arab Emirates’ Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).
According to a report by the Times of India, the state government aims to invest a sum of ₹130 million (US$1.42 million) to establish the site, which will eventually be home to a range of international-standard hospitals, a medical college, a wellness centre, and medical research and development facilities, among other services.
It is hoped that the project will be completed by 2028. The resulting Medicity will benefit from its adjacency to Ahmedabad Airport, allowing easy access for patients travelling from across India and internationally.
