New health bot allows patients to self-assess for Covid-19
A bilingual health bot from UAE health insurer Daman and Microsoft will enhance the patient experience and reduce person-to-person contact
The Daman health bot is an AI-powered tool providing patient assessment for Covid-19, triage and symptom checking, general medical information and medical recommendations. The health bot will ask patients a defined set of questions and follow specific protocols, before – if necessary – advising them to contact the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention and the Dubai Health Authority for further assistance.
Providing healthcare access to 2.5 million members
As a bilingual tool, the healthbot will also enable a wider pool of users to access and use the technology. Daman’s 2.5 million-member network will be able to use the healthbot via the company’s website and mobile app. This will not only reduce in-patient visits, which will help mitigate the spread of Covid-19 and relieve the workload of healthcare providers, it will also reduce patient wait times improving the healthcare experience for the patient.
“We have a very important social responsibility to play during the pandemic crisis and protect the health and safety of people. The Daman health bot speaks to that effort by addressing queries and reducing person-to-person engagement,” said Daman CEO Hamad Al Mehyas.
“Partners such as Microsoft are empowering us with the right technology to better engage the public and provide the right level of guidance,” Al Mehyas continued. “The Daman health bot will reduce patient visits to hospitals, lessen workload on call centres, enhance patient experience and encourage them to proactively manage their health condition.”
