Bupa announces senior leadership changes
Chris Carroll appointed CEO of Bupa Global, India & UK; Richard Washington to lead Bupa Insurance; Carlos Jaureguizar to head Europe and Latin America
Bupa has announced a series of senior leadership appointments, effective 1 January 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Chris Carroll has been named CEO for Bupa Global, India & UK, reporting to Bupa Group CEO Iñaki Ereño. He will lead the growth of Bupa’s insurance and healthcare provision businesses, bringing extensive experience in health insurance, healthcare provision, and customer-focused innovation. Carroll joined Bupa in 2020 from WS Audiology and has held senior roles in both Australia and the UK, most recently leading Bupa Insurance in the UK. He succeeds Carlos Jaureguizar, who will become CEO of Bupa’s Europe and Latin America division.
Jaureguizar, who joined Bupa in 2006, has held senior roles including Chief Financial Officer of Bupa’s Europe and Latin America unit, and General Manager of Bupa Chile.
Richard Washington, currently Medical and Healthcare Director for Bupa Insurance, will become CEO of Bupa Insurance, reporting to Carroll. An experienced financial services leader, he joined Bupa in 2018 after senior roles at Lloyds Banking Group and NatWest.
