Tertiary care hospital opens in Lagos
Evercare Hospital Lekki is part of the Evercare Group, and will offer enhanced patient care abilities to the Nigerian city and beyond
A healthcare group operating hospitals, clinics and facilities across Africa and South Asia, Evercare Group’s latest facility helps to support the advancement of medical care across Nigeria, explains Massimiliano Colella, CEO, Evercare Group. “Evercare Hospital Lekki brings first-class healthcare services to the people of Nigeria and will reduce the need for Nigerians to travel abroad in search of quality medical care.”
Colella continued: “Our aim is to build a sustainable future to provide world-class healthcare facilities in emerging markets, and one of our key missions is to invest in local resources to help them expand their reach to help communities in need.”
Evercare Hospital Lekki is a purpose-built, 165-bed multispecialty, tertiary care hospital stationed in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city. Its specialties include Mother & Child Services, Cardiac Sciences, Neurosciences, Orthopaedics and Critical Care & Emergency Medicine.
Improving Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure
“It is an exciting time for us to work collectively to offer Nigerians superior healthcare options that meet local needs and build the country's response in tackling diseases,” commented Jide Olanrewaju, Partner at TPG Growth, Africa – the firm managing US$1 billion emerging markets healthcare fund Evercare Health Fund, which owns the new Lagos-based facility. “Evercare Hospital Lekki, and its best-in-class facilities, are a great example of how impact investment can address crucial funding needs in the march to bolster Nigeria's medical ecosystem and its economy. We are deeply proud of the hard work that has culminated in the opening of Evercare Hospital Lekki and we wish our colleagues continued success as we work together to improve healthcare in Nigeria.”
This latest facility is great news for international patient care operations in Nigeria. And is especially poignant considering that back in September 2020, Nigeria launched a new health insurance initiative for residents of Lagos. More recently, in February 2020, FBNInsurance and Collinson partnered to launch a suite of new health insurance products for Nigerian employers.
