UAE hospital achieves JCI accreditation as a centre of excellence for bariatric surgery
Al Qassimi Hospital in the city of Sharjah, UAE, has received international accreditation, marking it as a centre of excellence for bariatric surgery
Awarded by Joint Commission International (JCI) via a rigorous virtual assessment, as well as patient feedback, Al Qassimi Hospital is the first hospital outside of the US to receive this award – highlighting the region as a top destination for an international standard of patient care, an achievement that will no doubt attract a great many medical travellers to the UAE.
"This achievement underlines the success of MoHAP’s [the Ministry of Health and Prevention] plans to establish and develop qualified centres of excellence to obtain accreditation from international bodies, by providing ‘specialised’ medical services, in accordance with international best practices. It also reinforces the UAE’s globally leading position, in terms of the number of accredited health facilities," said Youssif Al Serkal, Director-General of the Emirates Health Services Corporation.
UAE developments continue to entice international patients
A partnership between Israeli hospital Sheba Medical Center and Emirati company APEX announced early September also looked to be a promising step in promoting the Gulf region as a top destination for medical travel. This new accreditation in the UAE is yet another development that will promote the region in terms of international patient care.
Indeed, Dr Kalthoum Al Baloushi, Director of MoHAP’s Hospitals Administration, said this award is an international recognition that MoHAP is committed to applying the best international standards of medical and administrative quality in health facilities, calling upon the technical staff to remain committed to implementing the best healthcare standards in the service of patients.
