The plan covers international hospitalisation costs, as well as post-treatment expenses

Indian health insurer Aditya Birla Health Insurance has launched a new comprehensive plan for overseas travellers.

The Activ Health Platinum Premiere plan offers complete healthcare both in India and internationally, and includes both indemnity and fixed benefit options.

The plan covers international hospitalisation costs, as well as post-treatment medical expenses, international second opinion, repatriation of mortal remains, travel and accommodation costs for the patient, attendants and organ donors, and visa assistance services.

The policy also offers ‘cashless’ international treatment for 16 major illnesses and access to the Chronic Management Programme, which offers coverage for Diabetes, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia and Asthma, at no additional cost from the next policy anniversary, if chronic lifestyle conditions are developed during the course of the year.

The policy was conceived to meet growing demand for travel post-Covid

Other features include:

  • Health return incentives – policyholders who stay fit and healthy can earn returns of up to 100 per cent of the premium
  • Cumulative bonus – 50 per cent of the sum insured for every claim-free year, up to a maximum of Rupees 10 million
  • Access to an expert health coach, offering advice on mental and physical health and nutrition.

The policy was launched in response to growing international travel demand as Covid borders restrictions ease.

Aditya Birla Health Insurance CEO Mayank Bathwal said: “With increased mobility and opening of borders, people have resumed their overseas medical travel for specialised and better treatment.

“However, many individuals purchase insurance from foreign insurance players for such treatments. Keeping this trend in mind, the Activ Health Platinum Premier policy with indemnity and fixed benefit coverage in a single plan has been launched.”
