flight cost increase

Prices for airline tickets, accommodation, food, and entertainment continue to rise worldwide

The latest customer data from WorldTrips revealed that US travellers are spending more on their holidays for next year than they did this year.

The average cost for a 2023 trip to Europe from the US is $8,817, which is almost double the cost of a trip in 2022 – $4,684.

Domestic holidays have also seen a nearly $3,000 increase from 2022 to 2023. The average cost of trip within the US in 2023 is $7,878, whereas in 2022, it was $4,956.

These increases follow the universal trend of higher costs for airline tickets, accommodation, food and entertainment.

Mark Carney, CEO of WorldTrips, said: “The average trip cost trend in 2023 for popular U.S. tourist destinations is a stark reminder of the macro-economic trends directly impacting consumers.

“Buying a travel insurance plan that includes a trip cancellation benefit should be on all travellers’ radar as they prepare for these more expensive trips in 2023.”
