Staycation boom could continue in 2022
UK accommodation company Hoseasons predicts that the 2021 staycation boom will likely continue into 2022, despite the easing of travel restrictions
According to the company’s research, 830 out of 1,001 people surveyed (83 per cent) who holidayed in the UK in 2021 said they would book a domestic break again next year and 28 per cent of of holidaymakers prefer a staycation over a holiday abroad, while over half (52 per cent) are planning at least one of each in 2022.
The aspects of domestic breaks which respondents enjoyed the most were ‘comfortable and relaxing’ accommodations (34 per cent), a change of environment (32 per cent) and staycations being ‘less stressful’ than going abroad (30 per cent).
Holidaymakers already booking staycations for 2022
Simon Altham, Group Chief Commercial Officer for Awaze, the parent company, said: "Next year’s holidays may seem like a long way off, but savvy staycationers are already snapping up the best breaks and securing the best properties to make sure they don’t miss out.”
