purchasing insurance online

Insurtech Zelros has surveyed over 1,000 people and found that 70 per cent of people said that they would prefer either a completely online or hybrid experience when purchasing insurance

Breaking this down further, when considering purchasing insurance, 46.9 per cent of people indicate that they would prefer a digital experience and would not need help from an agent. Nearly a third of the respondents at 30.1 per cent say they would like a physical experience with an agent to provide personalized policy recommendations. The least picked response at 23 per cent was of those who would prefer a hybrid experience, combining the digital experience with the option to speak to an agent if they require more personalized recommendations.

  • Nearly one in two people would prefer a digital only insurance experience
  • Over half of 25-34-year-olds said they would want a digital insurance experience only
  • Nearly one in three people would still prefer to have a face-to-face experience with an agent.

When breaking it down by age, 44.5 per cent of 18–24-year-olds, 55.5 per cent of 25-34 year-olds, 50 per cent of 35-44 year-olds and 49 per cent of 45-54 year-olds surveyed said that they would prefer a digital experience, with everything done online. Nearly 40 per cent of over 54-year-olds would prefer a physical experience with an agent to suggest and provide personalised recommendations.
