Rebooking fee for Lufthansa still suspended
Flights from Lufthansa can still be rebooked, free of charge, until February
Since the end of August, all fares of Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings can be rebooked as often as desired, free of charge. Originally, this fare offer was valid for re-bookings until the end of the year. Now the offer to the customer is being extended: all airline fares can now be rebooked free of charge as often as desired up to 28 February 2021 if the rebooking is also made before that date.
Lufthansa Group Airlines had already made it possible for its customers to rebook their tickets free of charge in the spring. The abolition of the rebooking fee applies worldwide for all new bookings in all fares on short, medium and long-haul routes.
Free rebooking, Covid cover and free testing
This means that Lufthansa Group airlines are now more responsive to their customers' needs for flexible travel arrangements. However, customers may incur additional costs if, for example, the original booking class is no longer available when rebooking to a different date or destination.
Recently, Lufthansa launched a new Covid-19 insurance package; and, from 12 November, the airline has been piloting a Covid-19 testing service. Additional Covid-19 services are now included in the existing insurance packages offered by the airlines' existing insurance partner. The customer can choose between two options: ‘Travel Care’ and ‘Travel Care Plus’.
The first Lufthansa flight, on which all passengers previously tested negative for Covid-19, took off for Hamburg from Munich on 12 November. Once the test was completed, customers received their test results within a short time frame by push message and email. All guests on the flight tested negative and were able to start their journey to Hamburg.
