Healix launches digital dermatology service
Healix has announced the launch of a new rapid dermatological assessment and referral service
The digital service was created in partnership with Circle Integrated Care, a subsidiary of UK-based private hospital provider Circle Health Group.
It allows employees of companies with Healix membership to submit photos of skin lesions or moles, which can then be reviewed by a dermatology expert.
In the event that a patient requires a follow-up, a face-to-face consultation for a biopsy or further treatment can then be booked.
Faster times to access dermatology services
It is hoped that the service will improve access to dermatology services at a time when waiting times for appointments have been rising in the UK. According to figures from the National Health Service (NHS) England, approximately 623,000 patients were still waiting for a diagnosis 28 days after an urgent referral between October 2022 and June 2023.
“It’s vital that employees have fast access to consultations at a time when pressure on health services persists,” said Ian Talbot, CEO of Healix Health. “Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, with incidences of malignant melanoma rising faster than any other common cancer.
“We also know that early detection can save lives, so giving people the ability to alert healthcare specialists to skin concerns from the comfort of their own home is vital,” he added.
Amanda Phillips, Executive Director of Circle Integrated Care, added: “Access to fast and effective care is key to achieving the best outcomes for members. Giving members the ability to communicate directly with leading skin specialists at a time and place that is convenient to them is vital in the fight against cancer. Moreover, it eliminates the stress and anxiety associated with waiting for answers.”
UAE healthcare provider PureHealth completed its takeover of the Circle Health Group in January of this year.
