Croatia and France reopen to international travellers
The countries are making plans to reopen to tourists, as more people are vaccinated against Covid-19
Croatian Minister of Tourism Nikolina Brnjac said that the country was ready for the arrival of numerous guests and that a stable epidemiological situation was the best invitation to visit the country. “I believe that we have put in place all necessary measures to make Croatia a safe holiday destination,” she said. “This year in Croatia, we are focused on a quality and highly diversified tourist offer, along with a high level of security for our guests. Escape from mass tourism, safety, peaceful environment and authentic gastronomy are the new components of luxury which Croatia offers to tourists.”
France to reopen to vaccinated travellers
Elsewhere, France is allowing fully vaccinated travellers to visit without quarantine requirements under new rules that took effect on 9 June.
Additionally, the rules assign countries a colour code of green, orange or red, based on Covid-19 infections and spread, that determines requirements for visiting travellers. Vaccinated travellers from green countries – which include the European Union, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand – are allowed to enter freely.
Vaccinated visitors from orange countries – which include the US, UK, Mexico, China, and much of Africa and the Middle East – can visit for ‘non-essential’ travel reasons without quarantine, though they still must have a negative Covid-19 test result to enter. Those from red countries – including Brazil, India, Pakistan and South Africa – can visit only for essential travel, and visitors will have to both provide negative test results and quarantine upon arrival.
