Corporate travel bookings close to pre-pandemic levels
UK travel company Travel Counsellors has recorded a bumper bounce-back in corporate bookings, with sales in February 2022 now back to 92 per cent of pre-pandemic levels
Sales of corporate and business trips for January and February combined have hit GB£18 million, which is 82 per cent of February 2019’s sales. Last week, for example, 90 per cent of all corporate Travel Counsellors made a new booking, totalling 1,860 bookings. The company has also reported surging numbers in new client acquisition, totalling over £5 million worth of sales so far this year, with 121 new global corporate accounts in January – 77 of those in the UK.
Last week’s stats also reveal that corporate travellers are looking to travel imminently with almost 89 per cent of bookings being made for February and March departures. The most popular destinations for immediate travel are France, Germany, and Italy, replacing the UK and US, which were the top selling corporate travel destinations in January.
Kieran Hartwell, Managing Director of Corporate Travel at Travel Counsellors, said: “It is hugely encouraging to see this surge in corporate bookings, similar to what we have also experienced in the leisure market. We are increasingly seeing small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) looking for that human expertise on travelling in a post pandemic world and we’re delighted that they are coming to us for that trusted travel advice, as SMEs is one of our biggest sectors of expertise.”
