Figures released by the US Department of State at the end of 2015 have shown a rise in international travel by US nationals. Travel from the US to overseas markets totalled 61.3 million for the year, an eight-per-cent rise compared with the previous year, while October 2015 specifically saw a nine-per-cent year-on-year rise. Regionally for that month, trips to Europe rose by seven per cent compared with 2014, trips to the Caribbean rose by nine per cent and trips to Asia rose by 11 per cent. While Central America was up eight per cent, the Middle East was up 15 per cent, South America was up 13 per cent and Oceania was up eight per cent. Only Africa saw a drop (two per cent).
