Injury and illness the top concern for trips in spring 2024
The survey also found that spending on spring breaks has risen dramatically this year
Falling sick or being injured is the top concern for 75% of travellers looking to go on a holiday this spring, according to a survey by insurance comparison site Squaremouth. This includes injury and illness before or during the trip.
The figure comprises 53% of respondents who said that their primary concern was “experiencing a medical emergency while travelling”, and 22% whose primary concern was “getting sick or injured before a trip – and having to cancel their plans altogether”.
The survey, which polled over 5,000 Squaremouth customers, also found that the amount being spent on international trips this spring was up more than 40% year on year.
A total of 47% of Squaremouth customers reported spending more on travel than they had on previous spring trips, while only 8% said their trips were less expensive.
Additionally, 40% of travellers were “more concerned about protecting their trip costs than they have been in the past”.
Squaremouth previously outlined four trends that it thinks will guide the travel sector this year.
