Indian health insurer launches new international healthcare plan
ManipalCigna Health Insurance Company Limited (Manipal Cigna) has launched its ManipalCigna Lifetime Health plan, with two levels of cover – domestic and global
The new plan – available in two levels: the Lifetime Health India Plan and the Lifetime Health Global Plan – gives ManipalCigna customers easy access to quality healthcare treatments and procedures globally, with a high level of cover ranging from Rs.50 lacs (US$68,600) to Rs.3 crores ($465,000), explains Prasun Sikdar, Managing Director and CEO, ManipalCigna. Sikdar adds that the offering covers up to 27 major illnesses (under the global plan) and, most importantly, looks after individuals’ unique healthcare requirements for a lifetime.
Additional cover customisation available
“Every stage of a lifetime is laden with different health needs and priorities. Thus, through our new ManipalCigna Lifetime Health plan, we want to give customers much more flexibility of choice,” Sikdar said. “The new plan lets you customise the cover you need for your family using optional packages like Health+, Women+ and Global+ along with a Critical Illness rider that provides extensive coverage like screenings, vaccinations, and many more healthcare benefits, thus keeping you and your family clear of financial burden for lifetime.”
Back in December 2020, a report from MAPFRE highlighted that India was among the countries that had the highest insurance potential, in that it has a large insurance protection gap (IPG) and ample capacity to close it. Offerings like ManipalCigna’s will help the country secure its footing in the global insurance market, especially as a Max Bupa Health Insurance survey conducted in August 2020 identified that there had been exponential growth in local consumers’ plans to purchase health insurance.
