Destinations shift, but sales of travel insurance are strong
Travel medical insurance provider battleface has reported sales patterns showing that confidence in travel is growing, and that travel insurance is a popular investment
According to the provider’s statistics, between January and May this year, battleface’s top destinations included the ‘red’ (as per the UK Government’s traffic light system of rating countries red, amber and green according to the risk of Covid in that country) destinations of the UAE, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Kenya, the US, Costa Rica, Spain, France and Switzerland, whereas in the week ahead of the latest travel light announcement on 26 August, sales in travel insurance policies had pivoted to the mainstream holiday destinations of Spain, the Balearics, Greece and France.
The company recommended that travellers take extra care when selecting a travel insurance policy as coverage can vary so widely in the market: “With entry requirements and travel warnings in constant flux at present, as well as the ongoing risk of contracting COVID-19, it’s crucial that travellers check their policy details carefully to ensure they know exactly what is and isn’t covered by their travel insurance provider. Likewise, they need to be clear about the refund policy of the travel company with whom they’re travelling.”
