Day Two at ITIC Connected
Coronavirus, wellness and the International Provider Network Forum – all interspersed with yoga and a sprinkle of magic
Inaugurated by an introduction from the ITIJ team, Day Two at ITIC Connected got underway with a wellness session lead by life coach César Gamio, who instructed attendees on how to be the best versions of themselves when working from home, inspiring us to make sure we get enough sleep, drink enough water and take regular ‘recharging breaks’. Attendees went away armed with knowledge on how to be their most productive in their new working environment.
The day’s first panel session focussed on Covid-19 and saw representatives from the insurance, assistance and air ambulance sectors share experiences on how their industry has adapted to the challenges the pandemic has brought. From amending policy wording, to ensuring a continuation of services, all the sectors represented detailed how they reacted in a proactive manner to effectively manage the global travel lockdown and the myriad of complexities it brought.
Global pandemic challenges top of the agenda
A second panel session approached Covid-19 from a medical perspective. An infection specialist explained the spread of Covid and how best to stop it, showing data that suggests wearing masks and social distancing are the best solutions at the moment for halting the virus; while a representative from a global healthcare solutions company gave a presentation about the effect the pandemic has had on telemedicine and remote patient monitoring, concluding that once the kinks were worked out, and given the current demand for such services, they could be the future of medicine.
In the International Provider Network Forum, which is a regular session at ITIC Global, provider network managers and medical directors, as well as other industry representatives, came together (after a quick round of charades) to discuss how the industry had adapted to the challenges presented by the global pandemic. Talk quickly turned to the challenges and opportunities presented by telemedicine, as well as the issues of providing prescription medications in different international destinations.
It's a kind of magic
Winding down proceedings for the day was a mind-boggling magic show and a truly relaxing yoga session – what better way to end a day?! Magic Circle member Alan Hudson wowed assembled attendees with his slight of hand and mind-reading tricks, before a selection of yoga poses and meditation lead by a specialist yoga instructor brought us back down to Earth, releasing us to the rest of our days feeling healthier and happier.
