China cuts visa fees to boost tourism
Visa fees have been cut by 25 per cent
From today, visa application fees for mainland China will cost 25 per cent less for nationals of 12 countries. Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Mexico and the Philippines are all included, and the visa is eligible for business, tourism and family visits. The lower fee will be valid until December 2024.
The announcement is a move by the authorities to increase travel to the country.
“After China started managing Covid-19 with measures against Class B infectious diseases from January 8, 2023, the Chinese government has improved visa and entry policies for foreign nationals to facilitate cross-border travel,” said China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, at a press conference on Friday. “As a provisional measure, Chinese embassies and consulates will charge 75 per cent of the previous visa fees from December 11, 2023 to December 31, 2024.”
