The bigger picture
International private health insurance provider Regency for Expats has introduced terrorism cover under its international health insurance policies. It is the only insurer currently offering this service.
The nature of overseas assignments means that expat employees expect to undertake a certain amount of travel and this is what Regency says prompted it to tailor its international private medical insurance (IPMI) product accordingly.
The insurer says that it accepts that terrorism is a clear and present risk that needs to be addressed for globally mobile individuals. It includes the terrorism cover as part of its comprehensive expat IPMI whereas, according to Regency, the majority of insurers only offer terrorism cover as an add-on to a travel insurance policy.
“As a customer focused company specialising in providing expat private health insurance for individuals and organisations, we have looked at the bigger picture,” explained Kayla Hall, business development manager for expats at Regency. “We weighed up the potential costs of claims against the probability of such an attack occurring. In addition, we have considered the possible negative impact to our brand should the worst happen to one of our clients. Our customers expect to be protected for all relevant eventualities whilst living overseas and this is exactly why we have decided to provide terrorism cover as part of our expat private health insurance policies.”
