The new policies ‘GBA Travel Protection’ and ‘China Travel Protection’ will cover accidents and emergency medical services during the trip.

Avo Insurance Executive Director and CEO Winnie Wong has said that the insurer also introduced optional services to its new travel protection plans in response to current travel norms. This will allow policyholders to customise coverage ‘in accordance to their needs’.

Policyholders will be eligible to add benefits including a Covid-19 PCR test, which will be offered by CUHK Medical Clinic. The test report will be delivered by a local Covid-19 testing institution recognised by the government after one to two working days from the specimen submission date.

If the policyholder tests positive for Covid-19, they can redeem hospital cash of HKD10,000 during the 30-day coverage period of ‘Coronavirus Disease Protection’, which starts from the departure date.

“We hope to provide security to travellers, especially those who must visit mainland China for work or emergencies and allow them to travel with peace of mind. Being the first virtual general insurer in Hong Kong, Avo will continue to monitor the changing developments of Covid-19 and provide insurance protection to support the recovery of the travel sector and other industries,” said Wong.
