Teladoc expands virtual care reach
Global virtual care company Teladoc Health has announced that it will be acquiring Paris, France-based telemedicine provider MédecinDirect in a move that will bring the benefits of virtual care to more people across France.
The acquisition is expected to close during the first half of the year and, given MédecinDirec’s well-established client base of 40 leading insurance partners and 30 private medical insurers in France, many will benefit from access to a broader spectrum of clinical services.
Carlos Nueno, President of Teladoc Health International, said: “With a continued focus on our global expansion, we will now become the market leader in France with the ability to have an immediate impact on healthcare delivery in the country. On the successful foundation built by MédecinDirect, we will bring our full suite of virtual care services to multinational clients who have been eager to expand.”
Francois Lescure, CEO and Co-Founder, MédecinDirect, also commented on the acquisition: “We have had great success in the virtual care market, and now together with Teladoc Health we can meet more care needs for more individuals, and ultimately help improve healthcare across the country,” he said. “We share Teladoc Health’s vision for what the healthcare experience should be and look forward to transforming how people access healthcare.”
