Aon Affinity has reported that trip cancellation was behind the overwhelming majority of its travel insurance claims last year

Travel insurer Aon Affinity has found that trip cancellation was the leading reason for the travel insurance claims it received in 2025, accounting for nearly three quarters (74.1%) of all submissions.

Other key justifications for claims included trip delays (9.5%), trip interruption (6.3%), and medical incidents (6%).

“We continue to see trip cancellation as the top reason travellers file a claim, which reflects why many choose to purchase travel protection in the first place,” said Scott Fleming, President of Aon Affinity’s Travel Practice.

He added: “Whether it’s an unexpected illness, family emergency or other covered event, plans can shift quickly. Travel protection can help protect consumers’ financial investment, their belongings, and even their wellbeing.”

Allianz Partners recently revealed its list of top 2026 spring break destinations.
