Trawick brings CFAR travel protection service to UK market
The US travel protection provider has brought its flexible cancellation service to the UK as demand grows for alternatives to traditional insurance cover
Trawick Holdings has expanded its Safe Travels Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) travel protection service into the UK, marking the latest stage of the company’s international rollout of flexible trip cancellation products.
The service allows eligible UK residents to cancel a trip for reasons that fall outside the scope of traditional travel insurance and receive reimbursement of up to 75% of eligible prepaid, non-refundable travel costs.
The UK launch follows the introduction of the product in the US earlier this year and forms part of Trawick’s wider strategy to expand flexible cancellation solutions across international markets.
Unlike conventional travel insurance, which typically provides reimbursement only when cancellations result from specified insured events such as illness, injury or severe weather, the new offering has been developed as a non-insurance travel protection service.
The product will initially be distributed through SureGo Assist, while SureGo Administrative Services (UK) will manage cancellation requests, verify eligible expenses, and administer reimbursements.
Trawick said the service represented the first standalone CFAR travel protection offering available in the UK. While CFAR products have become an established feature of the US travel protection market in recent years, they have had limited availability for UK travellers.
The arrival of these products in the UK market may broaden the range of travel protection solutions available to consumers.
However, distributors are likely to need to clearly communicate the differences between insurance policies and non-insurance services, including how each product is regulated, the circumstances in which reimbursement is available, and any applicable limitations.
The service is available to eligible UK residents for trips valued at up to £15,000, with Trawick planning further expansion into additional European markets as part of its international growth strategy.
