Trawick Holdings launches non-insurance CFAR travel cancellation service
The new product reflects growing demand for flexible cancellation options as travel protection providers expand beyond traditional insurance models
Trawick Holdings has unveiled a new non-insurance travel cancellation product that allows eligible US travellers to cancel trips for almost any reason, marking a further evolution in the travel protection market beyond conventional insurance offerings.
The new service, Safe Travels CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason), is being distributed initially through Trawick International. According to the company, international expansion is planned in subsequent phases.
Unlike traditional travel insurance policies, which reimburse travellers only when cancellations result from covered events, the new product is structured as a non-insurance service.
Eligible customers who cancel their trip may receive reimbursement of up to 75% of prepaid, non-refundable travel costs, subject to the service’s terms and conditions.
The launch reflects a broader trend across the travel protection sector as providers seek to meet growing consumer demand for greater flexibility alongside conventional insurance benefits.
While CFAR coverage has become an established feature of some insurance products in several markets, Trawick’s latest offering has been developed outside the insurance framework.
The company said the product has been designed to expand access to flexible cancellation options, including for travellers in jurisdictions where insurance-based CFAR solutions have historically been more limited.
Operational support for the service will be provided through newly established entities within the Trawick Holdings group.
SureGo Assist will act as the customer-facing platform through which travellers purchase and access the service, while SureGo Administrative Services will manage cancellation requests, verify eligible expenses, and process reimbursements.
The launch illustrates the continuing diversification of travel protection products as providers explore alternative service models that sit alongside regulated insurance offerings. As travellers seek greater certainty when booking increasingly expensive holidays, the market has seen growing interest in products that address financial flexibility rather than insured perils alone.
Trawick Holdings said Safe Travels CFAR formed part of its wider strategy to expand flexible travel protection solutions internationally, with additional distribution channels expected to be introduced as the product rolls out beyond the US market.
