SCTI scoops three Canstar Awards

Australia’s Southern Cross Travel Insurance (SCTI) has taken home three ‘Outstanding Value’ prizes at the Canstar Travel Insurance Awards
The awards were in the following categories:
- Outstanding Value – International Travel Insurance
- Outstanding Value – Domestic Travel Insurance
- Outstanding Value – Senior Travel Insurance.
Jo McCauley, SCTI CEO, said: “It is a great honour and fantastic achievement to be awarded all three of these Outstanding Value Travel Insurance Awards from Canstar in 2022, particularly given the competitiveness of the travel insurance sector in Australia.”
Josh Sale, Canstar Research and Ratings Manager, said: “This is the first time since the onset of Covid-19 that Canstar has undertaken its review of travel insurance policies. The results were fuelled by more than 18,000 travel insurance quotes, providing travellers with comprehensive insights into the policies, offering outstanding value for travel at home and abroad.
“SCTI stood out for offering a high level of cover for a competitive premium,” Sale continued. “In our review of domestic travel insurance, its premiums were approximately 50 per cent cheaper than the market average for all types of travellers. For international travel cover, SCTI premiums for mature travellers, in particular, were quite competitive.”
Sale explained that despite these affordable premiums, SCTI also offered some of the ‘strongest domestic cover in the market, in particular for cancellation fees, loss of deposit, emergency travel arrangements, rental vehicle cover … and cancellation cover for Covid-19 related events’.
Likewise, he noted that the company’s international cover included ‘medical and evacuation … cancellation and trip amendments’ in the event of a Covid-19 related incident.
SCTI’s success at the Canstar Awards comes shortly after the company was named Travel & Health Insurer of the Year at the ITIJ Awards 2022.
