Manulife adds global eSIM benefit to travel insurance policies

A new partnership with Travelgoogoo expands the Canadian insurer’s travel offering through digital connectivity services available across more than 120 countries

Manulife Canada has partnered with Singapore-based travel connectivity provider Travelgoogoo to offer complimentary eSIM memberships to eligible travel insurance customers, expanding its range of services beyond traditional insurance coverage.

The initiative forms part of Manulife Travel Advantage, the insurer’s programme of additional benefits and services designed to support customers throughout their journeys.

Under the agreement, eligible policyholders will receive a 12-month eSIM membership providing connectivity in more than 120 countries, including unlimited messaging through supported applications and 1GB of global high-speed data.

The membership can be used across multiple trips during its validity period, with customers also receiving a 20% discount on additional 4G and 5G data packages.

The service supports digital activation and provides access to round-the-clock customer assistance through Travelgoogoo. Customers purchasing qualifying travel insurance policies will receive activation instructions by email.

Geoff Finnie, Head of Individual Health and Travel, Affinity, at Manulife Canada, said: “Staying connected has become an essential part of the travel experience today, whether it’s navigating a new city, keeping in touch with loved ones or accessing support when it’s needed.”

The arrangement also reflects the growing use of supplementary digital services to differentiate travel insurance products, with connectivity potentially supporting communication between policyholders, insurers, and assistance providers during overseas journeys.

The offer is restricted to eligible Manulife travel insurance policies, while activation is subject to device compatibility and applicable terms and conditions. Additional data purchases may incur charges.

The launch follows a similar move by Allianz Partners, which added eSIM connectivity to travel insurance plans in Asia Pacific.
