A tour bus from Krabi overturned in Surat Thani, injuring several passengers, with three hospitalised, as the cause is under investigation

The bus was en route from the popular tourist destination of Krabi, Thailand, when it overturned on a highway in Surat Thani Province.

“The bus had picked up 40 tourists and three staff from Ao Nang in Krabi Province. They were headed to the pier in Don Sak District in Surat Thani Province, en route to Koh Samui Island,” a police spokesperson said.

Several passengers were trapped in the wreckage, though only three, including a 23-year-old British traveller, needed hospital treatment. A rescue team quickly arrived to assist in freeing those trapped.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, and the full extent of the injuries has not yet been revealed.

Tour bus accidents in Thailand are relatively frequent, often attributed to less stringent safety regulations.

Just last week six people were injured after a speedboat exploded off the coast of Thailand near ‎Phuket.
