Hurricane Beryl strikes Texas and Louisiana
At least eight people have died after Hurricane Beryl hit the US states of Texas and Louisiana, while many are without power
The storm, which arrived in the US on 8 July,, while over 1,100 flights were cancelled at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, according to tracking service FlightAware.
The storm also left around 2.3 million people without power in Texas, alongside around 20,000 in Louisiana, according to a report by the BBC.
Hurricane Beryl previously passed through the Caribbean Sea, where it impacted Jamaica, Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and northern Venezuela. At least 10 people are believed to have died in those countries.
The storm was briefly classed as a Category 5 hurricane by the US National Hurricane Center, but has now been downgraded to a ‘tropical depression’.
