Great Eastern travel insurance launches on Shopee through Monee partnership
The agreement expands digital distribution of travel cover in Singapore, allowing consumers to purchase protection through the e-commerce platform
Great Eastern has partnered with fintech company Monee to make its travel insurance products available through e-commerce platform Shopee in Singapore.
Monee, the financial services arm of Shopee’s parent, Sea Limited, will distribute Great Eastern travel insurance through the platform, extending the insurer’s reach through a digital channel that consumers already use for everyday purchases.
Policies available through Shopee provide cover for travel disruption, including trip cancellation, flight delays, and lost baggage, as well as medical incidents, subject to policy terms.
Selected plans also provide protection for adventure activities including snowboarding and scuba diving.
The partnership reflects the increasing integration of insurance into digital platforms outside traditional insurer and broker distribution channels, allowing customers to purchase protection within existing online ecosystems.
Great Eastern and Monee are also using introductory discounts to support the launch. Between 1 and 31 October, customers can receive discounts of up to 60% on selected Great Eastern travel insurance plans, alongside additional vouchers.
The companies have also extended their partnership to motor and electric vehicle insurance products available through Shopee.
In other regional news, Collinson International has partnered with Taiwanese insurer Cathay Life to offer flight disruption airport lounge access to its policyholders.
