The partnership will integrate technologies such as GPS and artificial intelligence (AI) into Generali Hong Kong’s personal lines underwriting

Through its new partnership with embedded insurance solutions expert YAS, the global insurance and asset management provider Generali Hong Kong plans to use advanced technology to develop its underwriting capabilities, enabling real-time risk assessments to better align insurance products with customer activities and needs.

The first initiative, launched in November 2024, is embedded within the AlipayHK ecosystem. This adjusts travel coverage up to 20 times based on travellers’ spending, capped at HK$100,000 (US$12,850).

Key benefits for customers:

  • Tailored coverage: advanced technology for policies that adapt to individual behaviours, preferences, and needs
  • Seamless experiences: automated processes, created to simplify the insurance journey
  • Dynamic flexibility: coverage adjusts in real time to changing circumstances.

Windian Lai, Chief Business Officer and Intermediary Management of Generali Hong Kong, commented:“This initiative highlights Generali Hong Kong’s ability to respond quickly to market demands and deliver innovative solutions. With over 600,000 weekly border-crossing travellers in the region, this product addresses a growing need for flexible, real-time travel coverage.”

The ITIJ team recently spoke to experts from across the risk management sector about the geopolitical challenges facing travellers this year.
