EasyJet cabin crew in Spain set to strike over pay and conditions

EasyJet cabin crew based in Spain are set to launch a three-day strike starting on 25 June, as the busy summer travel season gets underway. The strike, organised by the USO union, involves 657 flight attendants stationed in Alicante, Barcelona, Málaga, and Palma de Mallorca.

The action is aimed at securing improved pay and working conditions. According to the union, Spanish-based crewmembers earn substantially less than their counterparts in other European countries. “The strike’s goal is to level the crews’ working and wage conditions in Spain with those at other European bases where the company operates,” the USO stated.

EasyJet has confirmed it plans to operate a full flight schedule during the strike, though it acknowledged that some delays and re-bookings may occur. The airline emphasised that all its employees are hired under “local terms and conditions” in each of the eight countries where it operates.

Spanish labour laws require airlines to maintain minimum service levels during strikes, helping to limit travel disruption. EasyJet said it would comply with these regulations and is taking steps to minimise the impact on passengers.

The strike highlights ongoing labour tensions in the aviation sector, with staffing levels and pay under renewed scrutiny as demand rebounds across Europe.

Earlier this year, members of the National Association of Professional Civil Aviation (ANPAC), the Italian Federation of Transport Workers (FILT) and the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL) held a four-hour strike in Italy, affecting easyJet passengers.
