A Close Up Of The Word Cancelled Repeated Multiple Times On A Sign At A Station Or Airport

Travellers to Italy have been alerted to potential disruption caused by a pilot walkout

Several unions are holding a four-hour strike on Monday 24 February, Italy’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has said.

“EasyJet has been formally advised of a national transportation workers’ strike, including some Italian-based pilot unions,” a spokesperson for the airline said.

“While we plan to operate our full flying programme, we advise customers to check the status of their flights on our Flight Tracker.”

The airline added it “would like to reassure [customers] we are doing all possible to minimise any disruption”.

Those involved in the strike include members of the National Association of Professional Civil Aviation (ANPAC), the Italian Federation of Transport Workers (FILT) and the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL).

This comes less than a month after strikes and a fire at Rome’s second largest airport caused major travel disruption across Italy.
