Contract awarded for new Queensland hospital
The government of Queensland, Australia, has awarded an A$1.3 billion (US$ 893 million) contract for the construction of a new hospital in Toowoomba
The contract was awarded to construction company John Holland. The hospital is one of three new hospitals planned for construction by the state government under its $9.78 billion Health and Hospitals Plan. The plan also includes plans for 11 expansions to existing hospitals, including a new cancer centre.
The new hospital will provide an additional 118 beds across the medical, surgical, maternity, coronary, and intensive care units.
The facility will also include emergency treatment spaces, outpatient consultation rooms and diagnostic rooms, as well as medical imaging, pharmacy, and pathology services.
Training, education and administration facilities will also be included for use by hospital staff.
Healthcare provider Medicover Romania recently opened a new hospital in Bucharest.
