Bupa to acquire King Edward VII’s Hospital, London
The independent private hospital will be used to create a network of London Bupa hospitals, alongside the Cromwell and New Victoria hospitals
Bupa has announced plans to acquire King Edward VII’s Hospital, a London-based independent private hospital, by the end of this year.
The facility, located in the city’s Harley Street health district, has 56 beds, three operating theatres, and a specialist outpatient and diagnostic medical clinic.
The hospital offers outpatient, diagnostics, day case, and inpatient services, and specialises in musculoskeletal, women’s health, urology, and digestive health. It also offers a range of other services, such as ophthalmology and dermatology.
The purchase will expand Bupa’s presence in London further, and follows its acquisition of New Victoria Hospital in August. The result, alongside Bupa’s Cromwell Hospital, is to create a “trio of Bupa hospitals … offering access to end-to-end specialist care, and the opportunity for diagnosis and treatment”.
“We will be delighted to welcome King Edward VII’s Hospital into Bupa, as the third hospital within our network as we expand our secondary care footprint within London,” said Sarah Melia, General Manager of Bupa Health Services.
Jeremy Butler, CEO of King Edward VII’s Hospital, added: “We are pleased to be joining Bupa and look forward to becoming part of Bupa Health Services. Both King Edward VII’s and Bupa are well recognised brands, synonymous with high-quality care. By creating greater access to speciality care, we aspire to attract more patients and experts to the hospital.”
Bupa previously announced a range of appointments to its global leadership team last month.
