The travel insurance plan, called MyTravel, includes 24/7 emergency assistance support

FWD Financial and bolttech Insurance have launched a new “comprehensive travel coverage plan” for Hong Kong residents.

The plan, called MyTravel, will be exclusively available through FWD’s online insurance platform, and was underwritten by bolttech Insurance.

MyTravel covers individuals aged between 60 days and 80 years old, with all insured members receiving coverage for medical expenses up to HK$1.5 million. It also includes special pet coverage under the Premium and Superior versions of the plan – including emergency pet boarding in the event of a travel delay at HK$500 per day.

MyTravel customers will have access to 24/7 emergency assistance and claims services, provided by Allianz Worldwide Partners (Hong Kong).

Item, CFAR, and event coverage

Additionally, MyTravel offers coverage for electronics such as phones or laptops in the event of theft or robbery. Under Premium and Superior, loss of sports equipment – including ski gear – is covered for up to HK$5,000 per item.

The plan allows customers to be reimbursed for the costs of a missed event – such as a concert – in cases where insured members experienced sickness or accidents. This coverage extends up to HK$3,000 under MyTravel Premium, and HK$15,000 under the Superior plan.

MyTravel Superior also offers ‘cancel for any reason’ (CFAR) coverage, providing reimbursement for up to HK$25,000 – “subject to a cap at 50% of the applicable public transportation and accommodation charges”.

bolttech also partnered with Trip.com to offer embedded travel insurance to customers in October 2023.
