The platform identified the most popular European cities for business travel, based on the number of reservations

BizAway, the Italian-based travel management scaleup, has analysed recent booking trends, providing insights into the evolving landscape of business travel. The platform identified the most relevant European cities for business travel, based on the number of reservations.

Milan, Rome, and Madrid stand out as the three most popular destinations for business travellers. However, London, Paris, Barcelona, Bologna, Turin, Florence and Venice continue to play a central role in the corporate travel ecosystem, reaffirming their status as key business hubs in Europe. The data indicates that moving towards 2025, business travel remains strong and reinforces its role as a fundamental driver of economic activity across multiple industries.

“This sustained demand highlights the irreplaceable value of in-person meetings and professional networking, even in an era of widespread digital transformation,” commented Luca Carlucci, CEO of BizAway.

Sustainable transports and corporate travel spending confirm the key role of business travel

Despite global debates about the future of corporate mobility, business travel continues to be an essential driver of international collaborations, securing new business opportunities, and strengthening client relationships. According to a report by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), corporate travel spending, after hitting the record of US$1.48 trillion in 2024, is projected to surpass $1.9 trillion by 2027, with Europe remaining one of the most dynamic markets.

One of the key trends that are shaping the sector is the sustainable travel options. Companies are becoming more conscious of their environmental impact, driving a shift towards greener transportation choices. BizAway recorded a 60% increase in train bookings compared with 2023, a clear indication that businesses are prioritising eco-friendly alternatives over traditional air travel, whenever feasible. Notably, among the cities, Madrid, Rome, and Paris have seen a rise in train bookings.

“As the business travel industry evolves, companies are expected to continue integrating technology, sustainability, and cost efficiency into their strategies. With demand staying strong and new digital solutions improving the travel experience, it is essential to focus on how we can meet these evolving needs, while addressing a sector that remains robust and dynamic,” concluded Carlucci.

At ITIC Americas 2025, Seth Krummich, Vice President Client Risk Management at Global Guardian, shared insights and information about regions around the world that are particularly at risk of instability in the coming year.
