The two companies have been in a partnership in Germany and Italy since 2011 and joined operations in the UK and Ireland in 2016. The extension of this partnership will allow Coverwise to expand into new territories, said the company’s Managing Director Mark Shaw.

He stated: “The provision of dependable and trustworthy insurance for travellers is a vital service, particularly in light of Covid-19 and the forthcoming changes to the European Health Insurance programme.”

Transformation to digital

Recently, AXA has been covering Covid-19 medical insurance for tourist destinations such as the Canary Islands. With the pandemic, and Brexit on the horizon, a partnership that strengthens travel insurance offerings could come at the right time for insurer AXA.
