The expansion provides access to more than 1,000 medical facilities, introduces local currency payment options, and strengthens clinical oversight, helping travel insurers respond to growing assistance demand and manage rising treatment costs in Uzbekistan

AP Companies has expanded its medical team and provider network in Uzbekistan after the number of medical assistance requests it handles in the country doubled over the past six months.

The expansion aims to give travel insurers and assistance companies greater flexibility in arranging treatment, controlling costs, and managing complex cases, including hospital transfers, medical evacuations, and repatriations.

The company’s provider database now covers more than 1,000 medical facilities across Uzbekistan’s public and private healthcare sectors. It is also increasing direct agreements with hospitals and clinics, creating alternative treatment options based on clinical capabilities, location, and cost.

A key development is the ability to negotiate local tariffs and settle medical bills directly in Uzbek soum, including at facilities unable to accept international payments. AP Companies says this opens access to clinics offering quality care at competitive prices, while helping insurers manage expenditure through negotiated rates, discounts, and medical bill reviews.

Its expanded local medical team can also visit patients at several major hospitals, subject to consent and access requirements, liaising with treating physicians to review clinical progress, treatment plans, and discharge or transfer options.

A further enhancement is planned for 1 December 2026, when the company will launch an enhanced clinical assessment service through specialist agreements at selected clinics. The service will provide detailed evaluations of complex cases, including treatment necessity, continued hospitalisation, and associated costs.

With demand rising, the developments highlight the growing importance of local medical expertise, payment infrastructure, and provider relationships in helping international assistance teams balance patient care with cost control.
