The agreement will provide users of Allianz’s Allyz digital platform with access to Collinson’s SmartDelay service, which grants complimentary airport lounge access in the event of a delay

Insurer Allianz Partners has teamed up with customer benefits specialist Collinson to provide free airport lounge access to users of Allianz’s Allyz platform in the event of a flight delay.

The deal gives Allyz Premium and Freemium members access to Collinson’s SmartDelay service, which automatically gives them complimentary access to over 1,200 lounges in over 500 airports if their flight is sufficiently delayed.

Premium Allyz users will be granted access to the lounge if their flight is delayed by an hour or more, while Freemium users will get access if their flight is delayed by two or more hours. Members can also bring up to five accompanying guests with them to enjoy the same benefits.

Allianz says that its Allyz digital platform provides travellers with a ‘one-stop shop’ for ‘safety, security, health and travel services’ before and during travel. Travellers can currently sign up as Allyz members in three countries: Germany, Spain and France, with more countries planned for coverage in future.

Allyz members will be automatically sent a lounge pass after a delay

Lawrence Watts, Head of Insurance at Collinson, said: “Allyz members are automatically sent a lounge pass as soon as it looks like their flight is going to be delayed. As a result, Allyz members will have instant, seamless lounge access.”

Lydie Hippon-Darde, Global Head of the New Models Unit at Allianz Partners, added: “Our new, digital Allyz platform has been specifically created to make travel as seamless and easy as possible for our members. We know flight delays can be an inevitable part of travelling, but we want our members to know we’re doing all we can to bring peace of mind when they do happen. This is especially relevant while the travel industry is in recovery, so as people start to travel again, we want our customers to feel confident in their travel experiences.”

Allianz Partners also agreed partnerships with the Marriott hotel chain and Singapore Airlines in January to offer travel insurance products to customers during booking processes for both firms.
