Allianz Partners launches global campaign to tackle preventable chronic diseases
Allianz’s Paths to Prevention initiative highlights lifestyle changes that can help combat top global killers
Global insurance and assistance provider Allianz Partners has launched a new health awareness campaign, Paths to Prevention, aimed at tackling some of the world’s most deadly – yet largely preventable – chronic diseases.
The video-led, social-first campaign focuses on five major conditions: cardiovascular disease, lung disease, cancer, diabetes, and dementia. Through expert-led content, Paths to Prevention highlights how simple lifestyle changes – such as improved diet, increased physical activity, quitting smoking, and regular health monitoring – can dramatically reduce the risks of developing these illnesses.
The first episode zeroes in on cardiovascular disease, which accounts for approximately 18 million deaths annually – about one in three global deaths. According to Allianz Partners, up to 80–90% of cardiovascular disease cases could be prevented through lifestyle changes and early detection.
The campaign was created with medical input and features commentary from Dr Ulli Sucher, Medical Director for Allianz Partners’ Health business. Dr Sucher presents actionable guidance on identifying risk factors and adopting preventative measures across the series.
“Our objective is to shift the focus from treating illness to fostering lifelong wellbeing,” said Dr Sucher. “Chronic diseases like heart disease are often perceived as unavoidable – but many are preventable. Prevention isn’t just about avoiding illness; it’s about enhancing quality of life and longevity.”
The launch builds on Allianz Partners’ Generational Health Insights report, which revealed a widespread lack of public awareness around chronic illnesses. While participants frequently cited infectious diseases like Covid-19 or the flu as preventable, few mentioned chronic diseases, despite their significantly higher global health impact.
Mariana Ishchuk, Global Head of Product Management and Innovation, Health, at Allianz Partners, said: “These conditions are the leading cause of illness, disability, and healthcare costs globally, responsible for 41 million deaths each year. By equipping people with simple, science-backed guidance, we hope to inspire meaningful change and help reduce the impact of chronic illnesses worldwide.”
The inclusion of dementia in the series signals Allianz Partners’ proactive stance on emerging health challenges linked to ageing populations. Though not yet among the top five chronic diseases globally, dementia is expected to rise significantly in prevalence in the coming decades.
Paths to Prevention will be released as a series of short videos across digital and social platforms, designed to provide accessible, engaging insights into chronic disease prevention for a broad global audience.
The global medical tourism market is set to reach US$704.8 billion by 2033 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.08%.
