New data highlights this year’s most popular and most costly holiday destinations for US travellers

New data from Faye Travel Insurance, based on early 2025 bookings, highlights the destinations American travellers are planning to spend the most on in 2025. As of now, most of the priciest trips will take place in Africa. This is no surprise considering many of these destinations cater to luxury travel, safaris, and/or are in remote locations more difficult – and therefore costly – to get to.

The top 10 destinations travellers are spending the most on in 2025 are:

  1. Rwanda – average trip cost: US$18,417
  2. Seychelles – average trip cost: $15,775
  3. Botswana – average trip cost: $15,619
  4. Kenya – average trip cost: $15,251
  5. Antarctica – average trip cost: $14,491
  6. Namibia – average trip cost: $14,147
  7. The Falkland Islands – average trip cost: $14,037
  8. Zimbabwe – average trip cost: $13,925
  9. Tanzania – average trip cost: $13,092
  10. South Africa – average trip cost: $12,725.

That said, none of these destinations fall under the most popular destinations for 2025. Faye’s data shows that the majority of Americans (75%) travelling in 2025 plan to head to Europe and spend $5,832 on average per traveller. The top 10 most popular 2025 trip destinations are:

  1. Italy
  2. France
  3. The UK
  4. Mexico
  5. Germany
  6. Spain
  7. The US
  8. Greece
  9. The Netherlands
  10. Canada.

Faye launches its latest feature: eSIM powered by Gigs

Faye has announced its fully digital travel eSIM in partnership with Gigs, an operating system for mobile services. The offering enables its users to stay connected while travelling without the risk of unexpected roaming fees.

Faye’s travel eSIM offers data access across multiple destinations. Customers can activate their eSIM directly from the Faye app and instantly connect to high-speed networks in over 190 countries worldwide.

Travellers will be recommended three different travel eSIM packages depending on the destination and duration of their trip. Packages range from 1GB to 20GB. The eSIM requires activation only once, and can be used alongside a primary physical SIM or eSIM.

Dennis Bauer, Co-Founder and President of Gigs, commented: “By embedding connectivity into its app with Gigs’ application programming interface (API), Faye taps into the $30 billion data roaming market, bundling essential services like insurance and connectivity to simplify travel and drive deeper customer engagement. We’re excited to see Faye leading this charge and look forward to supporting their customers with Gigs’ connectivity capabilities.”
