Zoom named Australia’s best value travel insurer amid rising holiday costs

Rising international travel costs are putting pressure on holidaymakers, but one insurer is standing out for offering strong protection without breaking budgets

Zoom Travel Insurance has been named Best Value Travel Insurance 2025 in Finder’s annual Travel Insurance Awards.

The award is significant given Finder’s reputation as a trusted comparison platform. Its rankings are determined independently, free from commercial influence.

Natasha Sullivan, Marketing Manager at Zoom, said: “At a time when travel costs are rising, we’re proud to be recognised for delivering affordable yet high value comprehensive cover that gives travellers peace of mind without the premium price tag.”

Finder assessed more than 30 providers against 14 criteria, including medical cover, cancellation costs, luggage protection, and price. Zoom emerged as the leading provider for comprehensive cover at an accessible price point.

Zoom’s value was further highlighted by a recent claim in which a solo traveller in the US required emergency surgery, rehabilitation, family assistance, and a nurse escort home. Her medical costs exceeded AU$1 million, all covered by Zoom.

Reflecting on the ordeal, the customer said: “They [Zoom] were amazing. At every step we were blown away by how professional, loving and caring everyone was.”

Sullivan added: “With over 1.5 million Australians heading overseas in the last quarter alone, the need for affordable cover is growing. Zoom’s win provides reassurance that travellers can access quality protection while keeping their budgets in check.”

Zoom policies are underwritten by HDI Global Specialty SE – Australia. The business is part of The Insurance Geeks Pty Ltd, whose founders have over two decades of experience in online travel insurance.

Australia’s travel insurance market is set to reach $451.8 million by 2033.
