World Nomads partners with Air Doctor
Travel insurer World Nomads has announced a strategic partnership with telemedicine provider Air Doctor
The partnership will allow World Nomads policyholders to access non-emergency medical care worldwide, and search for doctors by location, specialty, and language via a digital platform.
Policyholders can also choose between in-person and telemedicine consultations, and book an appointment directly through the platform, with no need to pay upfront.
World Nomads said that it expected the partnership to “elevate” the standard of healthcare support that it provides.
Strong demand for better healthcare access
The partnership comes in the wake of World Nomads’ 2024 Travel Anxiety Report, which found that over a quarter (26.4%) of UK holidaymakers do not know what they would do if they needed medical attention abroad.
The report also found that 47.5% of responders were concerned about the cost of treatment overseas, while one in three (34.5%) worried about access to quality healthcare while abroad.
“Air Doctor is a welcome addition for policyholders as it’s seamless, cashless and claimless, and transcends language barriers,” said Jonathan Frankham, General Manager, UK and Europe, at World Nomads. “It’s also a welcome addition for the destinations we insure against, as it reduces the stress and burden on their healthcare systems.”
World Nomads formed a new underwriting partnership with Collinson earlier this year.
