The World Health Organization has announced that the coronavirus can now be characterised as a pandemic
On its twitter account, WHO asserted that having been assessing the Covid-19 outbreak around the clock, it was ‘deeply concerned both by the alarming level of spread and severity’ and by the alarming levels of inaction. “We have therefore made the assessment that #COVID19 can be characterized as a pandemic,” the WHO said.
There are now over 118,000 cases of Covid-19 in 114 countries around the world.
