Veltliner launches ‘Travel to Peaceful Ukraine’ insurance
Ukrainian insurance firm Veltliner has launched a new travel insurance policy for use by tourists when the war in its home country is over
The ‘Travel to Peaceful Ukraine’ policy offers coverage for emergency medical costs of up to €30,000, including for severe Covid-19.
The product is available with an expiry length of either five or 10 years after purchase and comes in ‘one-time’ and ‘reusable’ variants, with the cost of an individual policy varying between €35 and €55 according to variant.
Veltliner described the policy as ‘an opportunity to open a new horizon of impressions and show a gesture of support for Ukraine's economy’, adding that the company continues to make efforts to ensure business continuity.
The company stated: “Veltliner believes and knows that in the nearest future Ukraine will be a peaceful country, which will continue to hospitably welcome everyone who comes to visit our land. The vast expanses of Ukraine are rich and diverse: steppes and dense forests, gentle seas and majestic mountains, stormy rivers and calm lakes, golden fields ... they will amaze you again and again.”
The policy comes at a time when most governments around the world are advising against travel to Ukraine due to the ongoing invasion by Russia. Consequently, the country’s travel medical insurance sector has been severely hit, with Veltliner claiming that premium incomes are currently down approximately 90 per cent compared with pre-invasion levels.
