Editor-in-chief, Ian Cameron, weighs up this month's news

So, it’s fairly clear from reading the first few news pages of ITIJ this month that borders will open to those who have been fully vaccinated.

Canada, the EU, the UK, the US and others are all starting to accept that if people have been fully vaccinated, this is a way to allow the opening of borders to at least those people: which is great news for the international travel and health insurance industry and gets a resounding cheer from us here at ITIJ.

What is less clear, and the cause of a lot of angst, is how you go about showing or proving your immunisation status.

Although digital passports, digital IDs or whatever, have been badly received in some quarters (as have the vaccinations themselves) and have led to protests over the necessity to produce such documentation, it would appear that their introduction is an inevitable facet of facilitating future quarantine-free international travel.

What do I think?

Well, if the only way to have had the vaccination was to inject it through the eyeball, I’d still have been at the front of the queue; and I’d happily have the vaccine passport superglued to my forehead, if that was what it took to travel again.

So, I guess you know where I stand on the issue.
